On February 24, 2025, the Lancang-Mekong Clean Energy Development Forum was grandly held in Bangkok, Thailand. The forum was jointly organized by the Mekong Institute (MI) and the China Southern Power Grid Energy Development Research Institute (EDRI), with the aim of strengthening regional dialogue and cooperation in the field of clean energy transition in the Lancang-Mekong region. The event attracted numerous experts, scholars, government officials, and business representatives to jointly explore the opportunities and challenges of clean energy development.
Associate Professor Li Yanfei from the Business School was invited to attend the forum and delivered a speech on the theme of “ASEAN Power Grid Development.” In his report, Professor Li elaborated in detail on the key role of the ASEAN power grid in promoting regional sustainable energy transition, emphasizing its multiple benefits in promoting economic growth, ensuring energy security, and achieving decarbonization targets. He also shared the challenges faced by the ASEAN power grid in cross-border energy cooperation and the corresponding strategies to address them.
